Blackjack Betting Strategy – The Negative Progression

Like most betting systems “The Negative Progression” is based on the only one principle: if the result you want doesn’t occur during several times, it will occur in the near future. Saying other words, the more you are losing, the more chance that in the next deal you’ll win. Actually, every deal could be considered as “Win” or “Lost”, with 50/50 chances for every possible result.

But to make things a bit more clear, imagine that you are flipping just landed with the “Face”. Remember, that it’s doesn’t change anything, I mean chances that the next time coin landed different side. Probabilities will remain the same.

To bring the idea to gambling, let’s say you saw “Black” appeared on Roulette game. Do you still think that if it happened, the probability of appearing “Red” has changed? The answer is NO! And if you just lost several games playing online blackjack – it doesn’t mean that the chances of winning the next game increased. It is called “independent events”, when the results of previous deals or spins don’t affect on future deals or spins. These events are independent.

Perfect example of “The Negative Progression” is “Martingale” system, when player doubles their next bet every time when they lost. And if player finally wins – they not only win, but get their losses back. For example, bet $1 – lose, then bet $2 – lose again, bet $4 – lose, bet $8 – win! As you can see you not only won 16 bucks, but got you previous bets back, and you total profit = $1. You just risked $15 to win $1! And what happened if you lost? In general this system cannot be considered as “winning” only by the fact that you have to bet big to win small.

When it comes to BlackJack, and especially to Online BlackJack (all versions use the same BlackJack table rules) – the minimum bet size for any table (not giving you casino’s name) is about $1-$5. As for maximum bet, in many online casinos bet size could be increased for the given player. It depends on their VIP level and if player wants their levels to be increased – they will have to discuss it with online casino management.

So, for Online BlackJack with table minimum set to $5 per hand, the progression will be the following: $5, $10, $20, $40, $80, $160, $320, $640, $1280, $2560 etc. But in 90% of cases $2500 is a table maximum, so if you bet $1280 and lost it – you can’t win and get your money back if you bet $2500, because it’s less than $2560. Believe me: BlackJack session with 10 losing hands in a row occurs not so rarely as you may think. And do not forget that you risk $2560 to win ONLY Five Bucks!

Of course, this system has many “versions”. Someone just waits until number of losses reaches needed cap, or increase bet size after every win, etc. But it’s only up to player to decide which system they will use.
