Oscar Grind Blackjack Strategy
Oscar Gring strategy is widely used in roulette. At the same time this system is effective in blackjack too. This system can be used in games where you place even money bets, in roulette it would be red/white, for example, and in blackjack it is a simple round of game against the dealer. The system is called Oscar Grind because of famous gambler who had the same time. According to legends, Oscar Grind made a fortune playing roulette in the middle of the XX century. However it is impossible to say if Oscar Grind really existed or it was just a fictional gambler.
This system is based on a simple strategy or betting system. Following this strategy increases your chances of winning dramatically. Surely you should not expect a real fortune but it is possible to reach small but stable income.
According to the theory of Oscar Grind blackjack strategy you cannot lose in the long run. But this statement is based on the theory of chances. At the same time results of game are unpredictable and you might be loosing many times in a row. Thus there is not guaranteed way of stable winning.
Let us show the example which describes this strategy.
You start playing Classic blackjack. And in the first round you place $1 bet. Let’s assume you have outclassed the dealer. In this case you should increase your wager to $2 (by the size of the first bet). If you win again you need to increase your bet by $1. Keep doing it until you lose.
Ok, let’s assume you have suffered your defeat. In this case you need to place equal bet to the bet you placed in the previous round. For example, your last bet was $4 and the dealer won. In this case you should wager 4 bucks again. And if you win this time you increase your bet by $1.
Thus there are two simple rules you should follow in the Oscar Grind strategy for blackjack:
- 1) always increase your bet by 1 after winning
- 2) always stay with previous after loosing
Blackjack fans say that it is a good idea to set limits for this system. For example, you play the whole cycle with $10-$20. After you finish the whole cycle regardless of the results you go back to the very beginning starting from $1 bet. It is wise to follow such cycle system because of limits set by casinos. If you constantly increase your bet you will just reach the highest limit of bet set by casino.
Have a look at the following table to see possible outcome of using the Oscar Grind system:
Round | Result | Bet | Your Balance |
1 | The dealer wins | $1 | -$1 |
2 | The dealer wins | $1 | -$2 |
3 | The dealer wins | $1 | -$3 |
4 | The dealer wins | $1 | -$4 |
5 | You win | $1 | -$3 |
6 | You win | $2 | -$1 |
7 | You win | $3 | $4 |
As it was mentioned this strategy can bring you small but stable profit in the long run. You might need to play 10-20 rounds to increase your bankroll by just a few dollars. At the same time there is the risk of losing your bankroll due to limits set by casinos. When you are on losing streak of 5-7 consecutive rounds it is extremely difficult to win back.
